Tips for keeping kids busy during the summer holidays!
With the summer holidays quickly approaching, parents are trying to come up with ideas on how to keep their kids busy for the next 6 weeks!
The holidays are a great time to bond with your children and let your inner child come out to play but they can also be a stressful time as children can sometimes misbehave out of boredom.
Below are a few tips on how to keep kids busy during the summer holidays and make your life that little bit easier!
Ideas for staying in:
Cooking and baking
Children love getting in the kitchen and helping out, which gives them opportunities to develop their motor skills.
Depending on your child’s age you can make anything from a simple batch of cornflake cakes to a family sized spaghetti Bolognese. This activity will give your child a sense of purpose and satisfaction as well as having a lot of fun.
Build a den
This activity is great for rainy days. Grab the blankets and sheets and make a den in the middle of the front room! You could even incorporate the TV into the den so that you can snuggle and watch a movie together. The den will allow your children to use their imagination and curiosity. My children love making and playing in dens and it keeps them entertained for hours.
Arts and crafts
Why not go to your nearest bargain store and grab a bundle of arts and crafts bits and bobs. Set up an area at home and get creative, once they’ve finished their creations they can hang them proud around the house.
Ideas for going out;
Go to the park
If the weather is nice why not grab your coats and boots and head out for an adventure. Take a nice walk to the local park and let your little ones use their imagination on the great outdoors.
You could even take a picnic.
Visit the library
Library’s are more than just books, you can enjoy music and movies at most library’s now. You could make a day of it and I guarantee your little one would be mesmerised with the amount of books.
Go to the museum
Museums are a great place to visit for a fun educational day. Most museums are free to visit which is a great benefit for parents.
As they are designed to capture a younger audience it’s a perfect idea to get your little ones minds working.
The summer holidays don’t have to be boring or expensive. It’s all about spending time together and enjoying the weather!
